Dr. Welch joined PathGroup in 2012 as Vice President of Physician Services. A native of Nashville, Tenn., Dr. Welch is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Tennessee with a combined degree in Bioethics and Biology. He earned his medical degree from Vanderbilt University continuing on to complete his Clinical and Anatomic Pathology residency as Chief Resident. Appointed Instructor of Pathology with sign out privileges at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Dr. Welch completed two fellowships: Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary, and General Surgical and Breast Pathology. Dr. Welch has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals including the American Journal of Surgical Pathology, Modern Pathology and Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and has been a platform presenter at the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathologists annual meeting. He is a Fellow member of the College of American Pathologists and the Roger C. Haggitt Gastrointestinal Pathology Society.
